Last night, I bailed quickly after watching half an hour each of "House of Cards" and "The Americans" (the latter Henry James-free). Suffice it to say that the Southern accent of one and the wigs of the other were obviously obtained on Freecycle. (Spoiler cut!)

More or less inadvertently, I discovered that truly motivated people can see "The Devil's Whore," the English Civil War* farrago with a dream cast can be watched Instantly on Netflix. Netflix, thank you for triggering my sense of wonder and simple gratitude. You don't know how much you're enjoying watching a DVD until it stops playing, and then you can watch the end of the episode by switching from the DVD player to the computer, but the DVD stops playing halfway through the second episode ( Read more... )

Thanks to the good offices of hulu, I'm only a little behind on watching Haven and Revenge, two projects that, although they must be categorized as hogwash, at least give you a nicely scrubbed porker. Almost as if Walter White was cooking at a hog- rather than a carwash. Cut for length and spoilers, if anybody cares.
